Hi, I’m Ryan — a Byram Township dad of four, a dog owner (okay, let’s be honest: Jax runs the house), and keeper of nine backyard hens. Animals aren’t a side gig for me; they’re my every day.
By day, my family and I run Little Explorers, the local daycare families trust with their kids, so “I’ll treat your home and pets like my own” is already my job description. I’m also pet CPR and first aid certified, and I spent years in HVAC and appliance repair before all this — handy whether I’m walking your dog or mounting your TV.

House & Hound is a local, owner-operated business based in Byram, New Jersey, run by Ryan Garrison. It brings two kinds of help under one name: dependable pet care and honest appliance repair — the two things Ryan knows best.
Ryan has been around animals his whole life. Jax, his brown-and-white beagle mix, is the face of the business and the reason the pet side exists: Ryan knows exactly what it means to trust someone with a member of your family. He brings seven years of pet care experience to every visit and is certified in pet CPR and first aid, so your pet is always in trained, careful hands.
On the pet side, House & Hound offers dog walking, drop-in pet sitting in your home, boarding, and pet waste removal. Drop-in sitting means your pet stays in its own home, on its own routine, with morning, afternoon, and evening visits. Boarding is at Ryan's home, with a fenced yard, potty breaks every two hours, and plenty of attention. A lockbox at your property handles keys securely, so you never have to be home for a visit. New clients get their first walk free — a chance to see the care your pet gets before you commit to anything at all. Cats are welcome too, and most other pets can be arranged with a quick text.
On the home side, Ryan has repaired appliances professionally since 2018, when he worked in the trade at Garrison Family Industries. He is EPA 608 certified for refrigerant handling. House & Hound diagnoses and repairs washers, dryers, refrigerators, dishwashers, and ovens, and installs appliances as well. Every repair starts with an upfront diagnostic fee that is applied toward the job, and Ryan will tell you honestly when a machine is not worth fixing. He does not claim licenses he does not hold: no plumbing or HVAC work, just appliances, done right the first time.
House & Hound is deliberately text-first. Ryan is usually out on a job or with a pet, so he does not answer phone calls — but he personally reads and replies to every text. Booking and payment run through Square, so scheduling is simple and paying is secure. The business is fully insured, and Ryan is happy to provide proof of coverage on request.
Ryan lives in Byram with his wife and four kids, and he volunteers as an assistant coach with the Lenape Valley Patriots youth football program. This is a neighborhood business in the truest sense: the person you text is the person who shows up. House & Hound serves Byram and the surrounding Sussex, Morris, and Warren County towns, including Sparta, Hopatcong, Stanhope, Netcong, Newton, Andover, and Hackettstown.
Whether it is a dog who needs a midday walk, a pet who needs company while you travel, a yard that needs cleaning up, or a washer that quit in the middle of a load, one text reaches a real neighbor who can help. Happy homes, handy help. Happy pets, tidy yards.
